About the day

Who is this day suitable for?

  • This course is suitable for adults over 16yrs, independently mobile. Please note these are well-being days not mental health sessions. No experience necessary.

The day will cover

  • Learn practices and skills to tend emotional, mental and physical well being.
  • Experience grounding and sensory exercises to help bring calm, clarity and connection.
  • Learn natural lore.
  • Create an opportunity to engage in simple nature connection
  • Connecting with local community

Your investment

Free places available to those who would otherwise be unabe to attend, thanks to support from The National Lottery funding, so that everyone can take part regardless of financial circumstances.

If you are able to make a voluntary donation, your contribution will help cover administration costs that are not funded by the grant, and will help sustain the longevity of Children’s Forest, supporting the planting of more forests for future generations.

As places are limited, we kindly ask that bookings are made with a genuine intention to attend. If you can no longer come, please cancel your place so it can be offered to someone else. Thank you for helping us care for this shared community resource.

About the tutors

Anna Richardson: Anna has been a nature mentor and trained forest school leader for over 20 years, working with children of all ages and mentoring adults in plant lore, foraging, nature connection and bushcraft. The 8 Shields deeply informs Anna’s work and approach.  She is passionate about connecting to nature through creativity and reverence for life and is also a forest school trainer through Circle of Life Rediscovery and has co-authored two books : Learning with Nature and The Children’s Forest and is the founder of the Children’s Forest.

Nicky Aisher: Nicky is a Counselling Psychologist who advises on emotional and psychological well being. She is passionate about connecting young people with nature given the profound benefits to psychological health and self-worth that come from a lasting connection with the natural world.

Jo de Diepold Braham: Jo is responsible for organising the planting projects, co-ordinating landowners, schools and community groups and fundraising. Children’s Forest combines Jo’s love of nature with her many years of experience in health and healing. Her role enables her to bring the joy of helping the natural world to meet the natural joy of children experiencing their place in it.

Journey with us and the trees as we gather around the fire, forage from the trees, sing songs and share stories, crafts and connection.

Greet the Trees; Autumn term offering (for community)

£10 drop-in per adult

During this term we will meet a new native tree each week, close to the tree nursery. We will learn the song of the tree together and gather in gratitude for the fruits and seeds. We will process the tree seeds to prepare them for their winter sleep and enjoy together a story and tea around the fire.
