Winter Community Celebration
About the event
Come & celebrate the trees together with us this Winter Solstice. Join us for fun & crafts for all the family. There will be singing & storytelling around a hearty fire, and tree based crafts galore. Make Christmas tree decorations, wreaths, healing tree salves for gifts and more. Learn how to plant holly seeds which will one day be planted out in the Children’s Forests.
Who is this day suitable for?
- This course is suitable for adults and accompanied children, both beginners level and those with more experience in nature connection.

- Seasonal celebration and traditions of our land
- Foraging and plant lore
- Tree based festive crafts
- Festive song and story and craft for all the family
- Create an opportunity to engage in simple ceremony together
- Connecting more with local community

Suggested donation: £10-£20
These gatherings are offered free of charge thanks to support from The National Lottery funding, so that everyone can take part regardless of financial circumstances.
If you are able to make a voluntary donation, your contribution will help cover administration costs that are not funded by the grant, and will help sustain the longevity of Children’s Forest, supporting the planting of more forests for future generations.
As places are limited, we kindly ask that bookings are made with a genuine intention to attend. If you can no longer come, please cancel your place so it can be offered to someone else. Thank you for helping us care for this shared community resource.

About the tutors

Pippa James: Pippa has 25 years experience of working with land, designing and making ecological gardens. She has taught Permaculture for over 20 years and has been passionate about inspiring people to develop their own connection to a piece of land to grow food for families and communities. She has created the first Children’s Forest tree nursery, facilitating children to grow native trees from local seed, for planting Children’s Forests.

Jen Beaufoy Jen is a nature mentor working for children and adults, has worked as a permaculture designer and teacher, and is also a home educating mum. Jen is passionate about caring for Earth and for people and feels it is a great privilege to facilitate people’s connection to nature and witness what it brings forth.
