This free introductory webinar will explore the Children’s Forest Journey; our new 6-month online course running from April to October 2026. This is an online space to explore how Children’s Forest can be a natural part of the cycle of Forest School Practice. By planting trees for the forest of the future we become part of our ecosystemns, cultivating deeper relationship through tending the land and experiencing ourselves as a beneficial species (learn more about this journey below).

The event will include
During this webinar, we will share a flavour of the Children’s Forest Journey; a 6-month online course, which will include:
- How tending our relationship with ourselves, each other and the land restores our world.
- How to plant trees in a meaningful and connective way through a head, heart and hands approach.
- connect with a network of Forest School & outdoor educators
- How to uplift and restore knowledge of the trees, plants and animals through skills such as foraging and tracking in the landscape.
- How planting native fruit and nut species is important for food sovereignty, ecological restoration, and biodiversity.
- Tools for developing nature connection practices for yourself and groups.
- The power of song, story and imagination in the creative arts to develop future generational thinking.
- How to work with schools through curriculum objectives
- Children’s Forest as a bridge between landowners and nature deprived communities.
- Bring the richness of ecology into Forest School practice and education through the ongoing tending of Children’s Forest.
- Meet guest speakers offering expertise and experience
- The Forest From Seed project – how to gather and plant native tree seeds: developing reciprocal relationship with nature.
- Consider what are the gifts of human beings as a key stone species

About the tutors

Anna Richardson: Founder of the Children’s Forest, Anna is an experienced forager and nature mentor who shares her expertise and enthusiasm for rediscovering the uses of wild plants for food, medicine and practical craft with people of all ages. Over the last 20 years her interest in plants and traditional skills has developed through practicing, training and teaching bushcraft, plant spirit medicine, and forest school work. A fiddle player and singer, Anna also brings her love of music and appreciation of the folk tradition as a source of inspiration and celebration of our connection with the natural world.

Pippa James: Pippa has 25 years experience of working with land, designing and making ecological gardens. She has taught Permaculture for over 20 years and has been passionate about inspiring people to develop their own connection to a piece of land to grow food for families and communities. She has created the first Children’s Forest tree nursery, facilitating children to grow native trees from local seed, for planting Children’s Forests.

Erica Shorter: Erica has been learning and playing in nature as a Forest School Leader and Nature Connection Mentor for over 10 years. She is happiest wandering barefoot in the forest and brings a flavour of deep nature connection into her work with children and adults. She is informed and inspired by the 8 Shields and is passionate about creating spaces for people to deeply connected with nature and their inner landscapes.
